If you need just a compact, robust and cheap flat utility bench, Marcy SB-315 is here for you. It is perfect for dumbbell workouts such as presses or exercises in a sitting position. However, you can use it for bodyweight training to do decline push ups or dips. It is on my best flat bench list.

The max capacity is 300 pounds which not that much, but for beginner/medium level trainers it is enough. Thanks to the extended stabilizers it is stable and takes up a little space. It costs about 50 bucks, and that price is unbeatable.

This is the most adjustable bench from Marcy made for beginner/medium fitness level people.

The back pad can be adjusted in 6 positions. The backrest angles are: 76, 54, 38, 21, 0 and -27 degrees. Those number of angles give a lot of variety to your workout. The setting is a piece of cake thanks to the sawtooth back pad adjustment.

The seat can also be altered in 3 positions which is beneficial since you can set it to a place that stops you slipping off from the board.

The backrest comes with high-density padding that provides a comfortable and stable lying surface.

The capacity is 300 lb which should be enough for home workouts, but not for pro athletes.

Thanks to the transportation wheels and the handle, relocating it is quick.

The stability of this Marcy bench is the only problem I have to mention. The rare stabilizers are slightly wide, but the front is standing only on one point. So, if you place Marcy SB 350 on an uneven floor or you use massive weights, it may lose its stability. Some customers put weight plates on the rare stabilizers and a rubber gym mat under it to avoid tipping.

In my opinion, this is the best buy Marcy weight bench for the average user. It comes with all the features that we require for dumbbells training, and its price is unbeatable.

The back pad can be adjusted in 6 incline, flat and decline angles. Although, the adjustment is not as convenient as the sawtooth adjustment. Also, the backrest comes with a deluxe-boxed upholstery that supports your body while lifting.

A useful feature is the tilting seat that can be put into 3 positions to fit your height and to avoid slipping off the board.

The assembled dimensions measure 52 x 25 x 46.5 which makes it compatible with other home workout equipment like power racks, Smith machines or half cages.

And, you can move it easy since it comes with transport wheels and hand grips. So, storage is easy as well.

The maximum weight limit is 300 lb.

Well, I put this Marcy workout bench with weights at the end of my list since it is not the best-reviewed product. I only recommend it for short and beginner level people since it is not heavy duty and small.

The back pad is adjustable into 3 incline and flat position. However, setting the board to the desired angle is not quick.

Even if the Marcy says the capacity is 300 lb, customers think for that load the structure of the equipment is not suitable. It is rather lightweight, and someone complains about wobbling (if no gym mat is placed under it.)

Most of the critics come from the narrow design. Taller guys after taking off the bar need to readjust their grip which is annoying and quite dangerous. So, I do not recommend for tall guys at all.

On the other hand, to say something good about it, it is a Marcy weight bench set at an unbelievable low price. It comes with 100 lb vinyl-coated Marcy weights and a non-Olympic barbell. Hence, you get everything to start working out at home.

  • The weight capacity. Check the maximum load that the weight lifting bench can stand. Add your body weight and consider your development in the long run. The minimum is 300 lb, but the more, the better.
  • Adjustability. I recommend you to get an adjustable bench since you can do incline, decline and flat bench exercises as well. Far more types of practices to target specific muscles groups accurately. I think, 1-2 decline, and 3-4 incline positions should be enough for most of the people.
  • Stability. Very important since wobbling workout equipment is not only annoying to use, but also dangerous. Massive pieces with wide stabilizers are typically more stable.
  • Size. To know if you have enough space to use and store the training bench. And, to see if it is suitable for your height.

Final thoughts on Marcy benches

To sum up, a Marcy weight bench is not the highest quality home exercise equipment, as Rogue. But, their price/value ratio is excellent. For regular men and women, they provide a suitable workout experience. However, I would not suggest them for advanced lifters.
