12 Yummy Healthy Snacks for Weight Loss

A recent research has proved that people know that having snacks can help with weight loss, but they usually consume too much, taking in too many calories.

This way the result is just the opposite. Instead of getting rid of fat and weight, they get on some extra pounds.

A healthy snack should be low in calories and it should contain enough protein, beneficial carbs, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Foods like these will keep your energy level up and fulfill your nutritional needs.

Right snacking is just as important as other meals during the day. Below you can find some healthy snack ideas. I eat these sorts of snacks and they work for me pretty well.

Veggies and Hummus

Vegetables are high in minerals, fiber and vitamins, but low in calories so consuming greens is crucial for a healthy diet. Hummus has a lot of health benefits, for example, it is high in protein, lower your cholesterol and it even helps to prevent cancer. The best advantage of hummus is that it is high in protein and this helps avoid hunger carvings.


Consume hummus with veggies like cucumber, carrots, spinach, tomatoes or make a whole grain sandwich with lettuce. Try some variations to find one which you enjoy the best.

Apples with Peanut Butter

Apples are among the most beneficial fruits since they are high in fiber and hold unique components which support especially weight and fat loss. Peanut butter is high in protein and healthy fats and it helps to feel yourself satisfied for a long time.

Apples and peanut butter together is really tasty. You can also use apple sauce and cinnamon to make it yummier. (Anyway, drinking home made apple juice can be a good snack, as well.)

Cottage Cheese with Fruits

Low-fat cottage cheese is full of protein helping to keep your metabolism high. Fruits are rich in fiber, minerals. Personally, I like having cottage cheese with apples, peaches, mango, avocado or bananas.

Dried Fruits

Eating fresh fruits is the best solution, but consuming dried ones can make your meal plan a bit more exciting. Dried fruits are delicious, healthy snacks for weight loss, but avoid having too much as they contain quite a lot of calories.

Fruit Salad

Get some fruits, cut and mix them and a healthy meal is ready. I usually make a fruit salad from bananas, apples, oranges, peaches, pears, pineapple, melon and make this mixture yummier with some lemon.

Sometimes I get carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, peas and others and eat them as they are. Believe me, they are not as bad as it seems. Sometimes I make pumpkin and sweet potatoes puree. These are really good for kids, as well.



Popcorn is actually healthy if it is not poured with butter and salt. Plain popcorn contains a lot of fiber and it is a natural whole grain. This way we can enjoy all the benefits of its components.

Greek Yogurt with Fruits

An interesting fact is that Greek yogurt (or strained yogurt) is among those healthy foods which are especially good to get rid of belly fat. A research proved that those who eat 18 oz. per a day lost 22% more weight and 81% more belly fat. In my opinion, Greek yogurt is among the best healthy snacks.

Nuts & Seeds

Eating nuts is always suggested by nutritionists as they are high in healthy fatty acids and other components. Have pistachios, pumpkin seed, sunflower seed, almonds or walnuts for snacking. However, be careful, as they are high in calories, so do not over-do it.

Healthy Sandwiches

You can make healthy sandwiches at home using whole wheat bread, tuna, turkey or eggs, various veggies and using some mustard. A sandwich like this includes all the goodies your body need.

Sugar and Fat Free Puddings

If you need some sort of dessert you can have some puddings which are low in fat and sugar. There are several healthy puddings these days. You can also cook your own and boost it up with some coconuts, berries, grapes or other fruits. Use skim milk and do not use sugar instead honey. (Anyway, dark chocolate is also a good dessert)

This is my healthy snack list. It has helped me to have enough energy for my fitness training and build leaner body. They are easy to make and cheap.
