Stamina Power Towers (1690, 1698, Fortress & Outdoor) Reviews & Comparison

The Stamina power towers are among the cheapest and best-quality fitness towers around. Our overview and comparison of the different Stamina power tower models look at the capabilities, features, exercises, advantages, and disadvantages of each. We prepared this guide based on the opinions and experiences of real buyers.

Stamina has been in business for more than 30 years as a company. The company produces a range of fitness equipment and is proud of being one of the first to run a TV infomercial to sell its products. In contrast to modern “as seen on tv” equivalents, Stamina’s products do not have an infomercial connection. In fact, the opposite is true. Instead of infomercial-like products, Stamina produces top-notch home gym equipment.

    1. Stamina 1690 Power Tower Review

    The Cheapest & Most Compact

Stamina Power Tower 1690 Pull Up Bar Dip Station w/ Smart Workout App - Pull Up Tower & Dip Bar for Home Gym Functional Strength Training Workout Equipment

    Pros

    • Affordable.
    • You can do bodyweight exercises (calisthenics) on 4 different stations.
    • In the box, you’ll find all the parts and tools you need.
    • By having a compact footprint, it takes up less floor space.
    • Ankle pads and all handles have comfortable padding.
    • The assembly process is quick and straightforward.

    Cons

    • No adjustable handlebars.
    • There is no leg raise station.
    • Larger and heavier people may cause the frame to move slightly. This can be countered by placing dumbbells or weight plates on the base bars.

    Compact design

Most of the power towers on the market are big bulky machines that require space, plus they are pretty hard to move around. Hence, they aren’t the best options if you have just a little space or you have to move around the tower after the workout.

The Stamina 1690 is a lighter, more simple piece of exercise equipment that requires less space and is easier to relocate even for a single person. Stamina 1690 Power Tower is easy to assemble and a compact tower perfect for any garage or apartment. There are 49 inches of width and 42 inches of depth in total. There is an overall height of 81 inches.

The machine is equipped with pull-up, dip, push-up, and sit-up stations. But, it hasn’t got a vertical knee raise station (VKR). Home workouts are easy with this machine. It has an affordable price. While it is not the most functional machine, it is adequate.

    Construction

Steel pipes make up the main structure of Stamina PT 1690. It can hold up to 250 lbs of weight. The tower stays stable and does not stagger when performing exercises under an average weight user. Each handle is coated with a non-slip material. However, people heavier than 200 pounds may experience a bit of wobbling. In my opinion, bigger guys should get a more robust power tower dip station with a higher weight capacity.

    The pull-up bar

A pull-up bar can be found on the opposite side. That’s convenient for high athletes who sometimes complain that they don’t have enough room between the dip bars when they do pull-ups on other models. Various padded grips are available so you can perform pull-ups and chin-ups comfortably. This will improve the variety and effectiveness of your workout. Your workout will have more diversity by engaging and strength training more muscles.

    Stamina 1690 Power Tower features

The push-up, sit-up, and dip stations

The push-up bars are easy to use and covered with secure foam for comfort. They work well.

The dip bars are quite short but also covered with foam for comfort. There is minimal rocking during the triceps dips, but it’s acceptable. As with this pull-up bar, big guys should look for a more stable and strong tower.

The sit-up station is almost useless, though. Since the Stamina 1690 Power tower is lightweight, it will fall over. So, do sit-ups with it only if you fix it to the floor using weight plates.

    Assembly

You can assemble the Stamina PT 1690 using all the parts included in the box, along with the tools and diagrams necessary to do so. The instructions aren’t overly complicated, and if you lay out all the parts before you begin, it’s easy enough to follow. This means you can start working out in less than 30 minutes from opening the box.

    Warranty

The manufacturer provides excellent warranty conditions. A 5-year warranty is included with the frame. Additional 90-day warranties are available for individual parts. Regarding the warranty, these are more favorable terms than that of many more expensive models.

Since it is compact, I can do my exercises at home without consuming a lot of space. It is light enough that I can pick it up with not much effort. For the price, it’s a good piece of workout equipment. It’s not the best though.

Is the Stamina 1690 Power tower for you?

I recommend the Stamina 1690 for people weighing 180 pounds or under. While the max weight is 250 pounds, the lightweight construction doesn’t give maximum safety for heavy people. On the other hand, it is an excellent power tower for apartments that is affordable, compact, and allows us to perform the most beneficial bodyweight exercises.

    2. Stamina 1698 Power Tower Review

    Adjustable & With Ab Straps

Stamina Power Tower 1698 Pull Up Bar Dip Station w/ Smart Workout App - Pull Up Tower & Dip Bar for Home Gym Functional Strength Training Workout Equipment

    Pros

    • Full non-slip foam cover on the multi-grip chin bar.
    • Adjustable dip bars.
    • The design is made for limited workout space. It can be placed in a corner.
    • Leg lifts with abdominal straps.
    • Relocation is easy.

    Cons

    • The vertical knee raise station is uncomfortable.
    • Because of being light, it moves a little.
    • Some complaints about missing parts.

This enhanced version of 1690 features additional functions but is still lightweight and compact. In a nutshell, with 1698, we can do more types of bodyweight exercises.

    Loops for beginners

For most beginners, performing hanging leg or knee raises properly is hard. They don’t have the required core strength yet. By placing their elbows in the loops, they get much better stability, which helps them perform the various leg raising exercises in a more controlled manner. This way, the ab exercises will be more effective.

    Dip station with adjustable height

We can easily change the height of the dip bars, which is useful for two reasons. Firstly, we can set the bars to our size, making mounting more accessible, or taller people can set it to have enough space at the bottom.

Also, by modifying the height of the dip handles, we can do other types of bodyweight exercises such as bench dips or bodyweight inverted rows. The tower isn’t equipped with a dedicated push-up station, but we can get this function by lowering the dip bars.

However, shorter people may find the distance between the dip bars a bit wide.

    Stamina 1698 Power Tower features

    Multiple-grip pull-up bar

There are three types of pull-up hand position: wide grip, narrow grip, and somewhere in between. Pull-up hand position can also be classified as overhand grip (pronated), underhand grip (supinated), and neutral grip (hands facing each other). With the Stamina power tower 1698, you can do exercises with sorts of gripping options. That is very beneficial since you can target different muscles groups of the upper body depending on how you catch the bar.

Support at the rear of the unit enhances the stability of the pull-up section. For this reason, the pull-up bar is at the front. The dip station can be lowered to the bottom so it won’t be in the way when we perform pull-ups.

    The construction

The manufacturer of this multifunction power tower wanted a lightweight machine, so it has a solid steel frame, but it isn’t the most sturdy. The maximum weight capacity is 250 lbs. Also, the base is willing to shake a little because steel pipe is used. However, the stabilizers at the bottom tilt outwards, giving the power tower better stability to the sides.

In my opinion, this power tower is a good choice for people under 200 pounds.

Putting this together is pretty straightforward. The directions were a bit confusing, so pay attention to how things go and what size bolt you should use. There are lots of options to strengthen the upper body.

Is the Stamina 1698 for you?

You can do a great bodyweight workout with the dip station, pull-up bar, and ab straps. A power tower is an excellent option if you’re under 200 pounds, looking for a better training experience, and are willing to pay more.

    3. Stamina X Fortress Power Tower Review

    The Most Versatile

Stamina Power Tower w/Smart Workout App - Pull Up Bar Dip Station for Home Gym Strength Training Workout Equipment, Fortress Red

    Pros

    • High weight capacity
    • Adjustable dip bars
    • Adjustable plyo box for cardio
    • Very stable design
    • Numerous pull-up bars

    Cons

    • Expensive
    • Big and hard to move

    image: stamina fortress power tower

Among the Stamina power towers, Fortress X is the top-end model. These are made for athletes at an advanced level and are very different from the two previous ones. All the tools you need for a comprehensive workout are incorporated into one unit. With this package, you will find a pull-up bar, dip bar, a plyometric box with adjustable height, stronghold grips, ab straps, as well as Boulder Fit rock climbing handholds. This compact machine has solid steel frame construction and a bold, red design that will make it a great addition to your home gym.

    Construction

In comparison with previous frames, the Stamina X Fortress power tower has a far more robust one. Built from solid steel, this frame is highly durable. Because of this and the H-base, this pull-up station is exceptionally sturdy (150 pounds) and very stable. There is virtually no rocking to be felt by the owner. Although the maximum weight capacity is 250 lbs, people heavier than that can use it without problems.

This makes the Stamina power tower an excellent choice for heavier or more advanced trainees who plan on training with additional weights.

    Numerous Ways to Do Pull-ups

We can perform exercises with wide and narrow foam hand grips in the pull-up exercise station. This station also has specially designed grips that are strong hold-compatible. The two balls are essentially the two balls we are doing pulls and hangs. By performing these exercises, we increase the strength of our hands and forearms.

These features are helpful for those who want to put their pull-up workout to the next level.

Stamina X Fortress Power Tower features

    It has plyo box

Box jumps allow you to strengthen your main lower body muscles, such as glutes, quadriceps, calves, and hamstrings. Box jumps will help you become faster, stronger, and more powerful. If you keep doing them for a long time, your heart rate will be elevated, and you’ll burn plenty of calories.

In comparison to other towers, the Stamina X power tower has a plyo box integrated into the structure that can be adjusted to 5 different heights (16″- 18″- 20″- 22″- 24″), allowing you to vary the type of exercises or intensity for different levels of fitness.

It’s amazing how awesome this thing is! I had to work out despite the fact that all gyms were closed because of COVID. Bought this thing and I cannot regret it at all! Considering that I am 6’3″ and 250 lbs, this thing is incredibly stable, it does not wobble or flex. It has such a small footprint that it can be kept in my living room without taking up too much storage space.

    • Suitable for even advanced athletes.

    Cons

    image:

Working outside is a completely different experience from training indoors. However, pull-up dip stations are primarily designed to be used indoors. Outdoor storage quickly makes them rusty.

This workout tower is made for those people who want to enjoy the fresh air!

    Solid Weather-Resistant Construction

You can improve your fitness and health right where you want it: in the comfort and privacy of your yard with the Stamina Outdoor Fitness Power Tower. With outdoor workouts, you can sculpt the upper body you desire while also reaping the benefits of a rejuvenating environment.

This versatile fitness tower is made to withstand the weather elements, but it is also designed to look good in any yard. Designed for outdoor use, the tower is constructed from steel and stainless hardware. The paint is weather-resistant, corrosive-resistant, and UV protected, so it maintains excellent color for a long time.

This heavy-duty steel frame bolts securely into the ground, incredibly stable and durable. The maximum user weight is 300 lbs.

Stamina Outdoor PRO Power Tower features

Workout Stations for Full Body Traning

With the Stamina Outdoor Fitness Power Tower, you can perform push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, chin-ups with various grip positions, tricep dips, and vertical knee raises. Everything that is required for an effective upper body workout.

This exercise tower is also equipped with an adjustable plyo box covered with non-slip, textured material. This way, you can strengthen your legs with various bodyweight movements and plyometric exercises. A wide, textured platform with adjustable height from 16″ to 24″ is available to change the intensity of the workouts.

It was a great deal for the price. Due to my height and weight, I needed a sturdy free-standing pull-up bar. I found this unit to be the perfect solution. When it came, it was well packaged, and it had an excellent paint job. There were no problems during assembly and I found the unit to be far more stable than the others I had seen at the big sporting goods stores.

Is the Stamina Outdoor Power Tower for you?

The pull-up tower is a smart choice for anyone who wants to do calisthenics outdoors at any level. It is a bit on the expensive side but safe and balanced. It is the best outdoor power tower on the market available today.

What to look for when buying a power tower?

    Stability

You will pay more attention to the instability of an unstable power tower than the workout if you choose one that wobbles. In general, towers with more extended stabilizers are more stable.

If you choose a very lightweight power tower, you will soon discover that it is insufficient to hold your weight. Exercising with one of these machines can be frustrating.

    The size of your body

The first thing you need to consider is the size of your body, though most power towers are compatible with most body sizes and weights. A specialized tower suited to your size may be necessary if your body is massive.

    Availability of space

A power tower should be purchased after determining the amount of space you have available. Some models have relatively small footprints, while others may require a lot of space.

If you are looking to buy a power tower, you have to measure the tower’s area and then compare the measurement with the size of the tower you are interested in purchasing.

What type of exercises do you want to do?

Power towers can be used for various exercises, depending on the design. As far as how complex you want your power tower to be, that is also something that needs to be decided beforehand. Power towers are typically designed so that you can do knee raises, push-ups, pull-ups, and dips. Models with better capabilities let you do other power tower exercises, like plyometrics.

    Pricing.

Pricing should be taken into consideration as well. Different manufacturers set the prices associated with their power towers based on various factors. It is possible that the cost of a product does not always reflect its true value. However, a high-priced power tower is precisely designed to meet the needs of its user.

Power Towers that are inexpensive are at high risk of being poor quality, and you will end up becoming more annoyed at the poor quality than concerned with the actual workout.

    To conclude

Overall, the Stamina Power Towers are an excellent choice for strengthening your upper body and core muscles, as well as improving your fitness level. We can do many exercises with them, and they are sturdy and durable. Additionally, Stamina products are not too expensive and come with a good warranty.
